This is a spacious and welcoming cottage that will accommodate two or three families in comfort in seven bedrooms, and provides a wealth of activities for everyone to enjoy, both on and off the water.
The cottage sits quite high off the clear waters of South Lake which are reached by a series of steps and walkways. This is not really suitable for families with very small children as there is no beach, but older kids and teens will just love being able to jump or dive off the docks. There are no weeds and the swimming is great. Out of the water they'll also love the trampoline and full size beach volleyball court.
The decks around the cottage offer several places to sit and relax and there is plenty of outdoor furniture for everyone to spread out and have their own space.
As you come indoors, the first thing you will notice is the aroma of cedar which clads most of the interior walls. There is a warmth and ambiance from the wealth of wood that is hard to match anywhere else and we felt immediately at home in this cottage. The foyer which has the laundry area to one side, opens into a huge games and family room. With table tennis and air hockey alongside the sitting area and entertainment system, this will be the location for lots of fun family evenings.
A long hallway to one side of the family room has five of the seven bedrooms off it. Each bedroom has a queen sized bunk bed making the accommodation here really flexible. On the waterfront side of the hallway is an extensive open plan area with a well equipped kitchen, dining area and another living room with comfortable leather seating and a wood burning stove. This is such a convivial space we could imagine much time being spent at the long dining table sharing stories of the day and generally relaxing.
Above the family room and reached by a pine staircase are two further bedrooms, one of which is the master with an ensuite bathroom. This has beautiful views over the lake. Two further bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, completes this excellent accommodation.
Nearby, the town of Minden has all you need in the way of supplies and is home to Kawartha Dairies and its renowned ice cream. Don't miss it on your stay. There is a beach here at the Riverside Park and a golf course too. The Kinmount movie theatre is another one not to miss - make sure you take in a movie there during your stay. |
