With lakes being crowded by so many cottages these days, it’s hard to find a spot that is completely private, but this super location is just that. Hidden away above beautiful Dickey Lake the cottage is tucked away amongst trees and offers an idyllic place to relax, recharge and rejuvenate.
Pull into the driveway and you’ll get the sense you’ve arrived somewhere special. Entry to the property is into a screened sunroom where there’s a couch and table for evening card games. Sleeping out here might be fun to do and we bet there are a few guests who opt to spend the night in this room.
The main door opens into a bright kitchen that’s well-equipped with everything you need to cater for the family – including a dishwasher and large fridge. The open plan dining and living room are comfortable and there’s a wood stove for cooler evenings in the fall. Plenty of DVDs will keep the movie watchers happy while there’s a good collection of games and books as well.
There are three small but comfortable bedrooms – two with queen beds and the third with a double bed with single bunk over – off a hallway to the rear of the kitchen.
Doors open from the living room onto the pretty deck with Muskoka chairs and a patio table and chairs with large parasol umbrella. Stairs lead down to a fire pit area, then further steps lead to the lakefront where the shoreline has been kept natural. The waterfront is not suitable for wading but at the end of the dock the water is clean and clear and 12ft deep for diving and jumping. Alternatively, choose from a rowboat, paddleboat or kayak to explore the lake. There’s great fishing with plenty of small and large-mouth bass, and lake trout.
The sun shines on the dock all day and there are Muskoka chairs for enjoying the sunset. With no light pollution this is a perfect place for stargazers and moon watchers so bring your binoculars
We think this is a perfect spot for couples wanting to get away from it all and families with active children who love to swim, dive and jump. Bring your bicycles and explore the area along paved municipal roads. The nearest golf course is just 15 minutes and there are galleries, antique shops and museums in the local area.
Located just 15 minutes west of Hwy 62, Dragonfly Landing is within easy reach of the town of Bancroft or the village of Coe Hill where there’s a great restaurant (check the links section below), so you’ll not be too far from a dinner out or a shopping location.
