This neat cottage sits close to the water on a quiet creek leading into Stoney Lake. Perfect for a peaceful vacation at any time of year, this attractive property boasts a hot tub, a west facing deck and a dock for sitting out and whiling away a sunny afternoon. Rent a boat from the local marina and explore the lake...or bring your own.
I liked the wooded feel of this property and the tranquillity of the surroundings. Although the waterfront has weed and is not ideal for swimming, just a 5 minute paddle out into the lake is a sandbar so you can take the pedalboat out there if you feel the need to get wet. The fishing is great directly from the dock so if that's your interest there is little need to go further afield. Alternatively, why not rent a boat from nearby Peel Marine and have it delivered to you. The reasonable rates for boat rental plus this value accommodation gives you a great vacation package without breaking the bank. If you want to stay put, you might just want to whle away a few hours sitting on the dock, on the deck overlooking the water, or in the pretty gardens.
Entrance to the cottage is into a small lobby and then into the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is well-equipped and nicely laid out, making cooking for the family a breeze. Off the dining area are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The master bedroom has sliding doors to the deck with easy access out to the hot tub.
A few steps lead down from the kitchen into the living room where there is another dining table, comfortable furniture and TV, and door onto the deck.
The deck overlooks the water and wraps around the side of the cottage where there's a sunken hot tub, stairs to the waterfront and a couple of steps down to the lawned garden area. Down by the water there's grass to the shoreline and a small dock.
Picturesque Lakefield is a 15 minute drive with Peterborough, a mere 30 minute drive. Enjoy a drive around Stoney Lake and take in Petroglyphs Provincial Park, stop for lunch in Burleigh Falls; watch the boats at Youngs Point and sit by the water in Lakefield and enjoy home made ice- cream....and that just an idea for one day! There's lots to do in the area if you want to leave the tranquility of this lovely cottage.....we wonder if you will.
In winter there's snowmobile access to OFSC trails & cross country skiing from the front door. |
