It's just a little over 2 hours from
Toronto to this lovely cottage on pretty Cordova Lake,
and the first impression of it is a great one. With
attractive gardens to the front and a tantalising glimpse
of the lake around the side, you'll know you made the
right choice with this cottage.
Entry into this popular model of Viceroy cottage is
through a screened sun room and into the light, spacious
and well equipped kitchen. A breakfast bar
divides this area from the dining room and both the
kitchen and dining area open into the sitting room with
huge picture windows overlooking the lake for sparkling
water views. The comfortable couches and chairs are grouped around a coffee table with a wood burning stove to one side for fall and winter heating. A hallway leads off the dining area with
three bedrooms off, as well as a good sized bathroom,
and a laundry room.
To one side of the main property is a delightful guest cabin which consists of a good sized living area with a sofa bed and table and chairs. Satellite TV is connected into the cabin. A separate bedroom has a queen and a twin and there's a full bathroom with shower stall off the bedroom..
Both the main cottage and guest cabin have sliding doors to steps down to the
lawned gardens. The lawns have a slight slope leading to the waterfront. There are a couple of small areas with shallow entry into the water where the lake bed is a mix of hard sand and stones, and wading is suitable although water shoes are recommended. The depth varies from around 4ft off the end of the dock to inches at the shoreline. There is a paddleboat and row boat for guest use.
Cordova Lake is just 15 minutes north of Highway 7 so
is very easily accessible. Explore the surrounding area
and visit the delightful riverside town of Campbellford
to the south, take a drive to Bon Echo Provincial Park
or visit the ‘rocks that speak’ in Petroglyphs
Provincial Park. And if you haven’t visited Kingston
or Ottawa, it’s an easy day trip to both.
