This beautiful Haliburton Highlands cottage rental on Growler Lake (also known as Bear Lake and occasionally Bat Lake) is nestled in an area of absolute tranquillity and wilderness beauty, located 2.5 hours North of Toronto. Just recently opened up for cottage development, the lots are huge and private on pristine waterfront. A Northern Soul Cottage rental is a newly built cottage facing west across this delightful lake in the heart of the Haliburton Highlands
This is a unique opportunity to stay at a beautifully appointed cottage that was decorated by Top Toronto Designer Robin Fraser from Food Network's "Restaurant Makeover", http://www.fraserdesigns.com and the result is elegant, yet comfortable accommodation over two large floor areas.
The door on the driveway side of the cottage opens into the large kitchen with top of the range, stainless steel appliances that will appeal to even the most discerning of cottage cooks. Fully equipped and spacious, it will be the focal point for cocktail hour gatherings while meal preparation gets underway. The large dining table has prime views over the gardens and waterfront as does the comfortable living area. The screened sunroom to one side of the dining area, is large and furnished well for you to enjoy those balmy summer evenings; play board or card games, or simply watch the sunsets.
There are three large bedrooms off the living area; the master has an ensuite bathroom and doors to a private deck with a Bistro set for enjoying morning coffee. Two further bedrooms share another bathroom on the main floor.
To the side of the kitchen are stairs leading to the family room and lower level bedrooms. Entertainment is the key feature of the main area on this level with large screen TV, and a variety of board games, videos and DVDs. This is a great spot for the younger members of the group to congregate while those seeking a more peaceful time can enjoy the lounge upstairs. There are sliding doors for easy access to the waterfront. An additional bathroom completes the accommodation.
On the waterside, the dock and water beckon and we know our guests will love the dockside area. There is an expanse of sand toward the waterfront however there is no beach abutting the shoreline. The water is around 2ft at the shoreline and is soft and silty underfoot so water shoes are recommended. It deepens gradually to a depth of around 5ft at the end of the dock. Try fishing from the dock - Lake Trout and Splake (a cross between Lake and Brook Trout) are plentiful.
This is a year-round cottage so include this in your winter vacation plans. Winter activities abound with cross country skiing, downhill at Sir Sam's; dog-sledding in the Haliburton Forest and the unique Redstone Luge.
