This beautiful location could be the venue for the holiday of a lifetime. Your own private beach, shallow, crystal-clear water for wading into deeper water for swimming; a patio with sublime views; and a stunning cottage....what more could you ask for?
We have located this cottage in the Eastern Ontario section;, it is a few kilometres into Quebec, just 10 minutes from Pembroke, on a section of the Ottawa River, known as Lake Allumette. Wiith it's clear water and hard- packed sand and gravel bed, it is a mecca for children and adults alike (and your water loving pet too!). The acre of land surrounding the property is mostly sand, rimmed with trees with stunning views across the water. I could imagine sitting around a campfire at night with moonlight touching the water and the sky filled with a trillion stars - what better way to end your day!
The deck is a nice size with a patio table and a mega-barbecue with a permanent propane supply - no worries about running out of gas half-way through your griling. There's a good supply of outdoor furniture, water toys and inflatables too.
The cottage has recently been completed and the interior is mostly hand-crafted with oak - hence the cottage name. On three levels, the lower part is presently just an entrance from the car parking area, with stairs up to the main floor. Here you'll find a light and airy open plan space with a luxury kitchen, dining area and comfortable leather couches. The kitchen is a delight with polished porcelain countertops, a wide range of stainless steel appliances and a breakfast bar with two stools. Open the door onto the deck and you have easy access to the outdoor eating area and barbecue.
Along the hallway are two comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom and a cupboard housing the laundry units. A further staircase leads to the master suite that takes up the upper floor and comprises a large bedroom with king bed, pullout couch and TV, and a luxury ensuite bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, an extra large shower and double basins. The bedroom window overlooks the waterfront and has fabulous views to wake up to in the morning.
The owner of The Oak House has built this property from the ground up and it is clearly a labour of love with a lot of attention given to detail. Each room is wired for sound with independent volume controls so you can hear your favourite music whether outside on the patio, cooking up a storm in the kitchen or taking a shower. Air conditioning and central vac are just two more standard features, and if the hydro should go off for any reason, emergency backup power is generated by solar panels.
If you have never visited this area before you are in for a real treat. At only an hour and a half from Ottawa it's an easy distance for a low season weekend, and it's well worth the drive from Toronto to reach this little piece of paradise. Take a day out white water rafting, explore the Bonnechere Caves at Eganville or just stay put and enjoy the wildlife. |
