Awesome views are just one of the great features of this property that commands a perfect position overlooking Lake Ontario, close to the pretty town of Brighton. The bright, newly renovated cottage is perfect for a getaway at any time of the year so whether you plan to cross country ski in the Northumberland Forest, go spring bird watching in Presquile Provincial Park, or just bask in the sun enjoying the lake vistas on your summer vacation, there is something for everyone.
The cottage is all on one level with the front door opening into an entrance hall that has a bedroom off either side. The lakefront elevation has the master bedroom to one end and a sitting and dining area with doors to the lakeside garden. A wood paneled room at the other end of the cottage is beautifully furnished with leather seating. The well-equipped kitchen has everything the cottage cook will need to cater for the family while still staying in touch with what’s going on and a four piece bathroom and laundry facilities round out this neat accommodation.
The lakeside lawned gardens are great for ball games, lounging, or sitting around the firepit in the evening enjoying the sunsets and the starlit nights. A metal staircase leads down to the water that is mostly pebbles but can recede to reveal a sandy beach if the Lake Ontario water level falls. The water is shallow for quite a long way out.
Nearby provincial parks at Presquile (Brighton) and Sandbanks (Prince Edward County) offer great hiking trails and opportunities for bird watching. In winter the Northumberland Forest has groomed cross country ski trails, and there is a small ski hill at nearby Batawa. The area is home to some of Ontario’s biggest apple orchards so the fall is great for apple lovers to explore and taste some great varieties. The easy and relatively short drive from Toronto makes this is a perfect spot for a short break as well as for longer vacations and we think it will become a very popular location. |
