Carley Point Cottage Brighton - Lake Ontario

What more could you ask for in a cottage? Panoramic views of a peaceful bay with the opportunity to see masted schooners sailing towards the Bay of Quinte, beautifully lawned gardens with a hot tub, and a cottage with a bright and sunny interior. Sounds as idyllic as it actually is!

Only 1 hour and 30 minutes east of Toronto (135 km), this quiet and relaxing lakefront cottage sits on a large grassy and private lot in Presqu'ile Bay, close to the town of Brighton. The entrance to the Murray Canal and the Trent Severn Waterway offers opportunity to catch a glimpse of sailing boats and masted schooners passing by. Enjoy sunrise and sunsets from this beautiful location with panoramic views across the bay.

From the beautiful sunrise to glorious sunsets, you'll enjoy plenty of actiivities to keep you busy through the day. Start your day relaxing on the patio with morning coffee, then into the water for a swim or wander out to the end of the 100ft dock with a fishing line. Play ball with the kids on the lawn or perhaps a little more relaxing before an evening barbecue before the sun goes down. Follow that with a dip in the bubbling hot tub under the stars, finishing off the day with a convivial hour around the camp fire. If you can drag yourself away from all this, take a trip to Presqu'ile or Sandbanks Provincial Parks with the Ontario Parks Access card the owner has throughtfully provided.

Inside the cottage you'll find a bright and cheerful interior, comfortably furnished and equipped. The open plan country-chic kitchen with breakfast island, custom lighting and spacious pantry is a pleasure to spend time in and the nominated cook will find all he or she needs to cook up a storm. The sunny eating nook & walkout to the wrap around decking makes for great dinner parties with family and friends.

Two comfortable bedrooms will guarantee you a good night's sleep; the master has an ensuite bathroom and views of the water. The attached guest room (bunkie) has a double bed with single bunk over and is great for the kids.

Watercraft are not provided at this cottage however you can rent a boat from nearby Brighton Harbourfront Marina. For exploring locally, enjoy the nearby towns of Brighton, Colborne and Cobourg and revel in the countryside of Northumberland county to the north. Beautiful Prince Edward County is right on the doorstep for the occasional road trip to a winery or a country restaurant. In fact, if you've never explored this delightful area, you are in for a real treat!

Winter Rentals

In winter Carley Cottage becomes a haven for the snowy enthusiast. The owner clears a rink on the lake so bring your skates, or snowmobile on the local trails. You could even try your hand at ice fishing. Ski downhill at Kirby or Batawa, both within 30 minutes, or cross country ski at Sandbanks Provincial Park or the Ganaraska Forest. I can think of little more magical (or romantic) than skating on the frozen lake in moonlight then relaxing in the hot tub under a canopy of stars.
