Sunset Hideaway is a grand four bedroom cottage that makes for a fantastic family or large group getaway location on the Bruce Peninsula. With over 250 feet of waterfront and its large grass lot, and both Sauble Beach and the town of Lion's Head less than a 30 minute drive away, this nicely furnished cottage ensures a comfortable and pleasant stay for its guests. The well-equipped kitchen provides plenty of opportunity for preparing a variety of meals, and the cottage also has a washer and dryer on site for laundry. Additionally, there is a dock that extends outward from the shore, but stops short of the water's edge.
In one sense, Sunset Hideaway could be considered two cottages in one. The reason for this is that it is comprised of two separate buildings that were built nearly 40 years apart from each other, giving the guests the unique experience of living in multiple eras. These buildings have been joined together through a separate hallway and a set of stairs, and share an elevated deck across the width of the cottage, complete with an outdoor dining table and chairs. The sun umbrella has been supplanted by a canopy of leaves above the deck from nearby trees but don't worry - the Sun isn't obscured in the evening, so the beautiful sunsets - some of the best in the world - are still great from the deck!
The older section of the cottage contains two bedrooms, a washroom, summer kitchen, dining room, and living room, which includes a stone fireplace. Made up mostly of brick, and with its cozy design, it makes for a very relaxing and intimate atmosphere. The other section is more modern, with several windows that look out onto Pike Bay while bringing a wealth of sunlight into the cottage. This newer section is host to the other two bedrooms, a washroom, kitchen, dining room, and a large, comfortable living room. There is also a formal sunroom ideal for some quieter time on one end of the cottage. The owner treasures his morning coffee in this spot.
Swimming here will require a short walk to the water's edge, however, the water in Pike Bay is shallow and often pleasantly warm throughout the summer. For those hoping to find some alternative swimming locations, there are plenty of public beaches in the area across Georgian Bay and Lake Huron, including a marvellous sand beach in Lion's Head.
The main feature of this cottage is safety for children - dead end roads..almost NO traffic...The water is very shallow with no large waves and no current whatsoever...This is a wonderful place for children and the Sunsets - some of the best in the world - are absolutely wonderful.
No doubt, Sunset Hideaway will make a great destination for any group or family hoping to do a lot of swimming, exploring, and star gazing, along with creating plenty of fond cottage memories.
Note - if you are considering an extended family gathering, Sunset Acres is just 5 cottages down the road.
